Fred Jay Seaver (1877-1970) was a mycologist whose specialty was the taxonomy of the Discomycetes. He began his career at the New York Botanical Garden in 1908 as Director of Laboratories and progressed up to Curator Emeritus. He was also editor of the journal Mycologia from 1909-1947. George Edward Morris was born in England, February 25, 1853, and died at Waltham, Massachusetts on July 5, 1916. Mr. Morris was interested in all phases of natural science. He became especially interested in botany through his art work and the use of plants as a basis for design.
